Mr. Loh was appointed as a member of the Management Board and President and Chief Executive Officer of ASM International on May 18, 2020.
Benjamin Loh was previously Senior VP for Oerlikon Corporation, responsible for Asia. He then joined Veeco Instruments Inc., an American thin-film process semiconductor equipment manufacturer, as Senior VP and General Manager for Asia, before becoming Executive VP, responsible for global field operations. Benjamin then joined FEI Company as a senior executive, where he developed its sales and service, global business operations and became its COO. Benjamin later joined VAT Vacuum Valves as Executive VP and a member of the Group Management Board, responsible for worldwide sales and marketing. His vast experience includes roles as a non-executive director for several companies, including Schneeberger, Schweiter Technologies AG, and Liteq BV, and as an Advisory Board Member of Semi China.
Benjamin Loh has a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering from Tohoku University in Japan. A Singaporean national, he has also lived in Japan, Hong Kong, China, the UK, and now the Netherlands.
Ivo J. Raaijmakers
Dr. Raaijmakers is currently Chief Technology Officer and Corporate VP of Research & Development (R&D) at ASM International, a position he has held for 22 years.
He started his career in 1982 at the Philips research labs in the Netherlands. He moved to the USA in 1988, where he held various positions in semiconductor technology development and R&D management at Philips, Novellus, and Applied Materials. Ivo joined ASM in 1996 in its ASM America subsidiary and was appointed CTO in 1999, based out of ASM's headquarter back in the Netherlands.
Ivo Raaijmakers holds a M.Sc. (‘Ir’) (1982) and Ph.D. (1988) degrees in Physics from Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands, specializing in Plasma Physics and Materials Science. He has authored over 50 technical publications, has been a speaker at many leading industry conferences, and is an inventor of over 175 granted patents.
Dr. Westendorp is Corporate VP Global Marketing of ASM International, a position he has held since 2010.
Han has over 35 years of experience in the semiconductor equipment industry. He started his career in 1986 in the Boston area, joining ASM Ion Implant, an ion implantation start-up joint venture between ASM International and Eclipse, which was sold to Varian in 1989. From 1991 until 1999, he was with Tokyo Electron in the Boston area, working on various dielectric and metal CVD applications. He joined ASM in the Netherlands in 1999 as General Manager of ASM Europe, was Chief Operating Officer from 2003 till 2007 responsible for all ASM products, and held various other positions until becoming VP of Global Marketing in 2010.
Han Westendorp received a master's degree in Physics in 1981 and a Ph.D. degree in physics and mathematics in 1986, both from the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands. He did his Ph.D. research (1981-1986) at the Institute for Atomic and Molecular Physics (AMOLF), Amsterdam, the Netherlands, specializing in materials science and ion implantation. He has authored 35 technical articles and holds 11 patents.
Dr. M'Saad currently serves as Executive VP of ASM's Global Products. He joined ASM in 2015 as a Senior VP of the thermal ALD, epitaxy, and vertical furnace product lines.
Hichem has over 25 years of experience in the semiconductor equipment industry. Before joining ASM, he had a 15-year tenure with Applied Materials. He started his career as a process development engineer working on various dielectric CVD applications; he rose to the level of Corporate VP and General Manager of the Dielectric Systems and Modules (DSM) and the Chemical Mechanical Polishing (CMP) divisions. He also served as CEO of a start-up in the solar photovoltaic industry for six years.
Hichem M'Saad received his Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, his Master's degree in Materials Science & Engineering from Cornell University, and his Ph.D. in Electronic Materials Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has authored 57 technical articles and holds nearly 200 granted patents.
Mr. Verhagen was appointed as a member of the Management Board and Chief Financial Officer of ASM International on June 1, 2021.
Paul has a proven track record and background in Dutch listed companies and the electronics industry. He made a career within Royal Philips starting in the early nineties and fulfilled numerous executive positions in the Netherlands, USA, Hong Kong, and China. His last two assignments with Royal Philips - from 2007 until 2013 - were as Executive VP and CFO of Philips Consumer Lifestyle and Executive VP and CFO of Philips Lighting. In 2014 he became the CFO and Member of the Management Board of the Dutch stock listed company Fugro N.V.
Paul Verhagen is a Dutch national and holds a master's in Business Administration and has a post-graduate degree as Chartered Controller.
